Subject: ADUG welcomes Amiga Corporation

Dear Bill,

On behalf of our President, Steve Kennedy, and the rest of the Committee of the Amiga Downunder User Group (ADUG), may I congratulate you and your colleagues at Amino on the formation of the new Amiga Corporation.

We, like the rest of the Amiga community, are delighted that your arrangement with Gateway will allow the Amiga and the Amiga name to continue.

More importantly, the announcement of your new venture brings fresh hope to the Amiga community, which was once again in danger of disintegration, and even of disappearing forever.

The Amiga Downunder User Group (ADUG) was officially launched on 21 August, 1999 at the Amiga Downunder '99 Amiga Show in Canberra, and I invite you and your colleagues to visit ADUG's fledgling website (www.amigadownunder.org) and read about the launch, the launch speeches and ADUG's purpose and objects.

At the launch, Petro T. stated that the Amiga community was Amiga's greatest asset, and from your press release, you obviously believe this to be true.

It is this belief in the Amiga community which is particularly pleasing to ADUG for, as you can see from our slogan ("bringing the Australasian Amiga community together") our main focus is also the Amiga community, especially as it relates to this part of the world
- where a combination of a low population density and the tyranny of distance has made it extremely difficult to maintain viable Amiga User Groups at a local level.

In wishing you every success, may we also express the hope that, because of its focus on the Amiga community, the new Amiga administration will also succeed in uniting the Amiga community (which has moved in a number of directions since Gateway's announcement last August) and in working harmoniously with those who have moved with them in a search for a worthy successor to the Amiga and the hope of keeping the spirit of the Amiga alive.

We look forward to working with you as we strive to serve the Amiga community `downunder'.

ADUG's constitution stipulates that the President of Amiga shall be the Patron of ADUG.
It is with very great pleasure, therefore, that we invite you to accept the position of Patron of ADUG.

May the vision continue...
